Wall of Frames?

Another season, another switch up.

Hey guys.
Happy Sunday! So this morning, I woke up with an idea in mind. Each weather season, I find myself trying to switch things around in my apartment. Now I only do this because I know I won't be moving anytime soon. In fact, I've promised myself that I'd be in this apartment until I pack my bags and move to my [future] husband's house. I mean, who likes moving? Not me!

While I was away in school, I'd always dreamed of living in a loft or a high-rise building overlooking Lake Michigan or Downtown Chicago, but after I graduated, I immediately got a job after NCLEX (thank God) and had little time to shop around for apartments...so, I settled. My current space isn't bad at all- I live on the 14th floor and Lake Michigan is right behind the building. But that's by the way.

I love interior decoration; styling, and all things of the Art world, so putting things together in my cozy space comes easy for me. I thought: If I were to live in a loft, my decors would be rustic or industrial; and if it were to be a high-rise building, it'd be modern. Right now, I'm kinda everywhere- bedroom is sorta nautical/mid-modern, and my living room is...just there.

Last year, I had started a Wall of Frames section in an area between my bedroom and bathroom, but then I soon realized the space was just too small and wasn't living up to my expectations, and that's when I thought: why don't I fill up a space with wall-clocks!?
I didn't go crazy on my purchases. The clocks bought from Target, Marshall's and T.J. Maxx had reasonable price tags. I postponed my trip to IKEA (they have beautiful, inexpensive clocks!).

I'm not fully satisfied with the look. I need to add 2-3 more clocks [I promise I won't go crazy with it].

How is your apartment/home styled?

The City That Never Sleeps- NYC

I know, I know. No blog post in over a month. I gotta do better, y'all.

Anyway, let me start by saying this past weekend was so much fun! Some of my girlfriends and I decided to go on a trip to New York for Labor Day weekend. We weren't going to explore the city per say...we just wanted to have some fun and relaxing time. I mean, we work so hard; that break was needed biko.

Yabo, me, Kennie
Yabo, Kennie, and I caught a 6AM flight from Midway airport on Friday which I almost missed! God bless my Uber driver...and Yabo for waking me up lol.
We stayed at a cozy Airbnb apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn (it had its flaws, but I won't delve into that). The neighborhood wasn't bad at all, but we had no business exploring it. We got some Thai food down the street; did some groceries, and awaited the other half of the group.

Friday night, we went to Lexicon nightclub where Dj Tunez kept us on our feet all night long!

On Saturday, we had a Romper-and-the-City day. Cute right? Hehe.
We went to some stores downtown Manhattan; checked out Madison Square Garden, and walked past the Empire State building. We didn't get to Times Square because... I forget. But like I stated earlier, we didn't necessarily go to NY to explore.
I must include that we were the center of attraction everywhere we went. People knew we weren't from the city, I guess from the way we looked at our surroundings, and/or the way we were dressed. We even got stopped for some photos.

Sooo, we were supposed to go to a lounge that Saturday night, but we all thought it'd be a great idea to take a nap after eating, you know, to get some energy...but child, we found ourselves awake at 1am!
LOL, I kinda saw that coming. Don't allow China take "naps" before a night out.

Best bae.

We dedicated Sunday to Coney Island. I loved every bit of Coney Island and the vibe it exuded- from the rides, to the street snacks, to the beach view...what a sight!
When we were through, we were told that the Caribbean Carnival was a few blocks away, but babes couldn't be bothered- we'd gotten so tired. We grabbed dinner at Festac Grill, a naija restaurant and headed home.

After resting in (we dared not take a nap this time), we headed to Copacabanna nightclub in NYC. I don't remember who the Nigerian DJ was, but it was "LIT". If you follow me on Snap Chat, you know how it went down.

On Monday [Labor Day], we stayed in; watched videos on YouTube, talked, and napped. I napped 3 times I believe (now you know my secret to looking young, lol).
Later that evening, we went to a Day Party hosted by a friend of mine, Gbenga "Cap B".
Popular Nigerian DJ, DJ Obi was on the turntables. He was spectacular!

After all was said and done, we packed up and flew back to Chicago at 6am today [Tuesday].

I'd definitely like to go back to explore the city.
I look forward to my next trip already!

We'll talk soon.

AdeDinma 2016

Hi lovelies!
August 23rd was the day my big sis traded her last name! The whole of that day was magical and we were all very excited for it to come.
I waited till the last minute to write my speech/toast and it was a bad idea. After the rehearsal dinner, I slept off, so I had 1 hour on Saturday morning to write it! Locking myself in our hotel bathroom at the Marriott in Bloomington-Normal, I got a lil inspiration from a speech online (can't find it), but here's my toast. Myself and the best man had 8 minutes allocated to our speech.

"Good evening, distinguished guests. For those of you who don't know me, I'm the immediate younger sister of this fabulous bride! My name is Chinazor which can also be remixed to China or Chinah.
I want to start by congratulating Rosie and Kunle, and thanking you all for coming to celebrate with us.

I always gush about the story of Rosie and Kunle as I remember exactly the way this played out and how she told me she wasn't sure how dating her close friend would turn out, but look at what God has done! Their friendship turned relationship has blossomed with God's blessings which I pray will last for decades to come.

I knew very little about Kunzie before he dated my sister (and I still do). These two are very privatatteeee (laying emphasis)! But I do know he's the perfect man for Rosie- he's intelligent, and easy-going, and my family and I are happy to have him and we know the feeling is mutual.

Rosie or Chirose, chidisgo, brother chidinma as I fondly called her when we were younger. Yes, brother in the sense that she was the toughest girl I'd ever known. I mean, she's the true definition of a Leo. Chidi is a tough nut to crack, but she has a very beautiful soul that I'm sure everyone knows of. Chi, you look incredibly gorgeous tonight.

Growing up, Rosie was always several steps ahead of me (we didn't live together for the most part) as she was always in another city away in school, but Chi, thank you for sharing 25 years of your life with me. I won't delve into those interesting or embarrassing stories that we share because I'm timed and because my mouth has gotten very dry... and because I'm an emotional wreck. But Chi, thanks for teaching me a lot!! As the first child you have truly paved the way for your siblings, and we appreciate you.

But Rosie and Kunle, I want to remind you two that God is always with you. As you all know, marriage is a task! You need to have a lot of understanding: when one partner is hot headed, the other has to shift their mood gear into cool. Love is a beautiful thing. Love is kind, love is patient. My prayer for you two is to celebrate many anniversaries. In years to come, we'll celebrate your 25th wedding anniversary and then 50th and so on. May you multiply, may you continue to find favor in God and man, and may you always know love, peace and joy through our lord Jesus.

Please raise your glasses as we make a toast to my beloved sister and her awesome groom:

To the bride and groom!!!

I can't post photos of them just yet. Official photos will be out after which I'll make additions to this post!

Birthday Gal

It's Fri-yay, everyone!
The month of July has been great so far...
Exactly a week from today, Friday the 15th, I celebrated my birthday...and all weekend long.

We started off with a lingerie party at Hyatt Regency McCormick hotel's Executive suite. The theme was so fun and playful...we enjoyed every bit of it! We later stepped out to Rio to enjoy some music from great Nigerian Chicago DJs.

(If I could post videos, I would)

On Saturday I went over to a friend's house where we ate an Oreo cake and clicked wine glasses. I later went home to rest up a bit, cleaned up, then dozed off.

On Sunday, my parents threw me a party at their house. There was food in abundance! My mom made our favorite- Fried rice (the best in town. Trust me)!
We had lots to grill, thanks to my friend Kenny aka "grill master" as my mom calls him lol.
But of course all my photos and videos ended up being on Snapchat and I didn't save them.

I had initially planned on going to Punt Cana; plans were made last year, but it didn't fall through. I'll go sometime this year tho.

And oh guys, my goal to visit 10-15 cities by age 25 was a success :)

I'm currently on the road headed to my sister's wedding.
We'll talk later.

Hi, Model

The time is now 10:26pm.

I just got done with dinner (I know). I'm almost ready for bed, but I thought I'd share this bit with you.

So at work today, during checkout at lunch, the strangest encounter occurred.
Because I tend to get bored with my own food, I always buy food at my hospital's cafeteria (so about 3 times a week), which costs me between 6-7$ worth of cheeseburger with chips and Crush soda. I get the same shxt every time, well unless they're serving meatloaf with some spaghetti that day.

Anyway, on getting to the register, the cashier smiles at me, scans my bag of chips, then with a grin, says to me "oh honey you need to eat more. You're so skinny, like a model" Say what now? What sort of dirty compliment is that?
Mind you, this woman looks just like me, physically!

If you know me, you'd know  my appetite is very big, and random. After all they say skinny girls eat the most. Or isn't that how it goes? And mind you, I weigh 130-135lbs which is VERY healthy, thank you very much.
I felt like saying this to her in the nicest way possible: "Well if your administrator didn't charge an arm and leg for this thing you call cheeseburger, maybe I'd be able to fill my plate up."
The audacity.

Anyway, I have my metabolism to thank- for enabling me eat as much as I want without worrying about calories.

All things fattening is the motto... unless your body disapproves of course.

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July, everyone! Hope your holiday weekend has been great so far?
Mine has! I had the best Me-Day yesterday and I got a lot accomplished, including taking my braids down..shhh. I'd had the braids for about 5 weeks, and while it still looked fairly good, my scalp itched for a wash. My coworkers and friends discouraged me from removing the braids as it still looked new, but I had to go with my hair's calling.

But anyway, the other thing I did on Sunday was eat my fave popcorn (Boom Chicka Pop) while binge watching on my new fave show on YouTube, Skinny Girl in Transit. You need to watch it if you haven't. They're in season 2.

Well, it's almost 0900. I'll go eat something light and perm this "thick forest" of a hair.
Going to a house BBQ later on.

We'll talk soon.
