Hurricane Sandy 2012-- The Aftermath

My deepest thoughts and prayers goes to those that were affected by Hurricane Sandy!
The super storm which started on the 29th in the East Coast, claimed the lives of at least 64 lives in the U.S., flooded streets, destroyed homes, personal properties and many more. **the death toll is still rising**
The storm caused schools, financial markets, mass transits among others to shut down, canceled flights, and left millions of people without power.

The storm forced New York Stock Exchanged to close for the first time since Hurricane Gloria in 1985.

Fall 2012 Trends 1.0

How's your weekend going?

Through blogging, online shopping and the whole fashion scene, I've come across lots and lots of trends, most of which I love.
Here are some of the not necessarily must-haves, but Should-haves to spice up your closets for this season.

1.

BURGUNDY, maroon, red-wine, oxblood, whatever color you label it as is a very essential color for the season. Even the leaves of trees agree on this one.
Is burgundy the new black?

I love how Stella from Jadore-Fashion styled hers.

You can shop for other burgundy pieces here:

2.

Camouflage jacket or camo prints in general! It's versatile and creates room for creativity. The price ranges from high-ends for celebs to affordable store prices. Even thrift stores now make these celeb trends accessible to the masses.

My girl Mona of ItsMonaLee and her friend on the streets of London rocking their camos.

3.
At first I was a little skeptical about these bad girls. I used to be a fan of high top sneakers back when...however, my dislike for wedges won't let me shine and be great. But I do like seeing these on other women. It allows you to show both your girly and tomboy sides. Unique!
P.S. I prefer the ones with the hidden platform. They look way better.

Raliat "The Fashion Fanatic" did an excellent job recreating her Beyonce style inspiration look. Love it!

4.
No doubt that the next big thing with headwears are beanies with words on them! I first noticed this trend on Rihanna, Ciara and Teyana Taylor, then they are seen on the heads of many other celebs like Beyonce, Rita Ora and the rest. It expresses thoughts and feelings while promoting warmth. I love the pom ends and slouchy knits too.
You can get a beanie anywhere and I mean ANYWHERE!

Mona sure does know how to rock a  beanie!

5.
Back in 2003-04 in Nigeria, I remember me being the envy of my peers when my dad bought me a leather skirt from the U.S...*sigh* I wore that skirt everywhere...in the heat too!
The leather skirt trend is one that will go on for a while, and I'm loving leather pants as well.
If you're wearing a mini leather skirt, it is best worn with some sheer tights and ankle boots!

Abby from the4ACESdate wore this back in November 2011.

6.
Motif jumpers, sweaters, pullovers, what have you. These pictures on sweaters depicts characters and images of different kinds. These playful and eccentric sweaters can be paired up with jeans for a casual look, and a dress shirt underlay and a pencil skirt for a dressed up/chic look.

Wear it it work like Stella!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

It's a Block Party!

There was a block party on Saturday at Enclave in appreciation for its residents.
There was food from local food vendors, games, music and so much more.
It was nice out and the event was fun.

Highlight of my evening was being recognized by the owner of the property. He walked up to me and told me he came across this post and was really impressed with it.
When I made that post, I didn't have the intention of it being recognized...it was my way of telling others IN YOUR FACE lol! Hey, I was just happy with what I signed up for.

Yeah,  I didn't make it

The owner! I've always thought he/she to be an older person, but my gosh, he's young! #ambitious

Beautiful eh?
Music, people, lots of fun!

Fall & Trees

This week, I found myself taking photos of everything with leaves in them.
I'm obsessed! If I can stop to park my car and take pics, I'd do it!
Fall is just too pretty not to capture on camera.

These photos were taken within my reach: my apartment, school campus, and the streets of Edwardsville.
All photos are by me and should be linked back to me.
