Merry Men, Lagos

Merry Men is a movie that got released in Lagos, Nigeria on the 23rd of September, and like always, Nigerian celebs followed a theme for its premiere.

There were a lot of creatives on the carpet, but these 5 stood out to me.

Brunch at Rosie's

I know you guys, I know. I am not very consistent; and no, blogging is not my full-time job. So I blog as time permits.
So I got back from my 10-day trip to Nigeria 3 days ago. I'll talk about that in a lengthy post.

Yesterday, May 28th, a bridal shower honoring my fab sister Rosie, took place in Chicago. It was a surprise in that she didn't know who was attending nor what was to take place. All she gave us was a theme and a date to work with. She chose Brunch at Tiffany's and I must say, that was a fun theme to recreate. This involved a lot of DIYs, so the only food we actually purchased was the cake.
We asked our guests to come in black and dazzling jewelry (pearls).

I bought a lot of items from Etsy and Ebay, and with Sade's help, the snacks came out beautifully. (Sade is a family friend and on Rosie's bridal train).

Below are a few photos of the event

Tying those bows was a pain in the butt, but they came out beautifully

Trend Alert: Full Skirts

Hi guys!
For the past few days, I've come across this particular trend. From bloggers to runways to celebrities, I spotted the full skirt.

I'm a fan of mini skirts only because my small tush allows it. However, I'm I'm in love with the way this skirt looks and the many ways it can be paired. It's the fall season, so it makes perfect sense to wear a lengthy skirt.

Below are some of my favorite pairings:

Uzo from Jadore-Fashion

The sweater and skirt trend is definitely something to look out for this fall.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Shoe Trend

It's no news that the gladiators are here to stay for the summer and maybe breeze through Fall season.
Everywhere--in fashion news; blogs; on the runway, gladiator shoes have been noted in different varieties.

One of my favorites is the Valentino "Rockstud Pump". It's a trendy shoe that has been spotted on many celebs and fashionistas. The only thing that is not cute about this particular shoe is its price :-/
It sells for $945 at Nordstrom

You can buy a look-alike for a lower price at TOBI

Another shoe that I'm loving is the lace-up heel.

Sold out at Zara, but you can get a similar look here

This type of shoe has other makers and you just have to look through sites to find them.

Tosha of BambisArmoire had hers custom made

A few sites I found that has similar looks:
Designer Giuseppe Zanotti on BG

Besides the gladiators and lace-up heels, heeled sandals with ankle straps are definitely sweeping its way across the fashion scene, and the best place to shop those is ZARA! You can never go wrong with their shoe quality and pricing.

Trend Alert: Black and White

It's no surprise that my favorite colors of all time are the newest trends.
((When I was younger, while most girls named bright colors as their fav(s), I would always say black and white which people thought was weird of me.))
And this is definitely the reason why all my gadgets/electronics/appliances/...are white, and most of my wardrobe (clothes and shoes) black!

While this is currently being seeing on celebs and fashionistas alike, this trend is nothing new to me...and maybe some of you.
Take a look back at the monochrome I rocked back in December *here*

Whether they are stripes, prints, or just bold blocks; in your clothing or just accessories, black and white is the perfect ensemble. Definitely the "it" trend at the moment.

I created some style inspirations--two different ways you can wear the colors (monochrome and stripes)

Trend: Black and White

The thing with this trend is that you have to be really careful when it comes to pairing. While I was creating the stripped set, I found myself doing most things stripe and it looked very "tacky". So take note.

Also, while you might be able to get away with colored or even gold undertones, silver jewelries will be the best fit.

Rihanna for River Island

Rihanna's Autumn/Winter 2013 collection for River Island was held during London Fashion Week.

Some people expressed their dislikes for the clothing items because they are too "revealing", "distasteful" "trashy" and the list goes on.
I personally WILL NOT be caught wearing some of them, but remember, they are Rihanna's and she's marketing them to people who have similar fashion taste as hers...and be rest assured that her fans will sell em out.

Rihanna describes her collection as “casual”, “chic” and “flirty"
