I got on a cooking spree sometime last week and decided to make Nigerian buns, eggroll, and puff puff...three snacks that are very common among the people of Nigeria and neighboring countries.
For buns/eggroll:
You'll need a clean bowl for mixing, sugar, nutmeg, baking powder, and evaporated/powdered milk |
Mix the bowl content and add lukewarm water to form a soft dough. You can add egg yolk |
Section out buns balls to desired size |
***For eggroll, boil some eggs*
Wrap dough around boiled egg |
Fry for 10-15minutes |
Fry buns on low heat for about 20 mins, or until cooked |
It looks soft, but certainly has the texture of your typical buns |
For puff puff:
Mix flour, sugar, nutmeg, milk, and yeast (for baking bread) in a bowl. Add warm water and stir |
Mixture should be of this consistency. Not thick and not too watery. |
Cover tightly. You can use foil, plastic wrap, or a towel. Pretty much anything that gives it a tight seal.
Leave to sit for 1.5-2 hours |
When the flour has risen, scoop out the mixture in small quantities and fry on medium heat until puff puff is golden brown.
You have to pay close attention to these things, cos they'll burn at the slightest chance...as you can see in mine.
School starts back today for me. Back to the fun busy life.
