#DIY: Fringe maxi dress & french braided ponytail

Hi there!

So today's Do IT Yourself is all about the fringe.

Sometime last month, I walked into Rainbow and picked up this maxi dress. Since I'm the type of person that hates trying clothes on, I put the dress against my body, liked and paid for it. I wore the dress when I got home only to realize that it wasn't long enough! Now i'm 5'8 (I know, I don't look it...but believe it or not, I am), you should expect that most of these dresses would be long and flowy.
It's really difficult for people my height and up to find maxi dresses/skirts that goes all the way to the floor. It always stops at an ankle length or an inch higher and I hate it!
So since I already trashed the receipt (I'm fond of doing that), I had no choice but to keep the dress. I thought of ideas and ways to wear it. I stretched it, perhaps it'd expand? I tried putting the bottom in a knot but it looked retarded (good idea for the beach though).
Well the last thought that came to my mind was cutting it up...and here it is! For starters, I'd suggest getting an inexpensive dress.

How to make a fringe maxi dress:

Get the your maxi dress. You'll need lint roller/remover (because it's less sticky) and a pair of scissors.
While wearing the dress, attach pieces of lint remover to your desired fringe length. This is done in order to cut up equal lengths.
Lay the dress flat on a smooth surface and cut above the lint remover as seen in the picture.
Detach pieces of lint remover
Pull each fringe to stretch.

For my hair, I decided to make a fringe (bangs). I wasn't too pleased with the hairstylist's decision on fringe length.
I didn't like the way my ponytail looked because my hair's very thin. So when I got home, I decided to attach a hair piece. You can get braiding hair from your local beauty shop [Mine is from Nigeria]. Although my hair is now a 1B, I used color 2 because that was what I found -,-
And before anybody (like my folks) says "Oh your hair's long, why do you need extensions?" my reason is that I hate using products like hot iron on my hair, and the constant brushing every morning breaks it!

How to make a french braided ponytail:

Get a braiding hair of preferred length. [I don't know how long mine is, but it goes all the way to my butt].
Get something for support while braiding. You can use your big toe.
French braid the hair. You can choose to do a fishtail braid.
Using an elastic band, make a loop on the top of the hair as shown.
Braid your own hair and tuck it in. Wrap the elastic band around your hair to secure the french braid.
Leave it to dangle or put it up in a bun.

Ok ladies, I'll put pics up of how I'll be wearing both items tomorrow.
