Super Bowl 2013

Last night was a night of excitement for the Ravens as they won Super Bowl 2013...and Queen/King Bey of course!

  • Beyonce performed during half time
  • Jennifer Hudson performed with Sandy Hook Elementary school choir
  • Alicia Keys sang the National Anthem

I've been unable to get a hold of videos with links showing Alicia Keys and J.Hudson's performances due to NFL copyright, but hopefully it'll become available online for those of you that missed it.

Everyone was pleased with Beyonce's performance, even though most of us wished it was longer than it was.
Destiny's Child also came to perform, it was an exciting moment!

Impressed tweets from  some celebs

P.S. I hear Beyonce is officially changing her name to Beyonce Carter.

Reorganizing

So last weekend, I decided to do some shoe organization.

Got tired of running into my shoes...they were scattered all over my room like some of yours are.
I searched for good storage options and I ended up at target. Although expensive for a shoe storage item, these wooden cubes were not intended for one.

The "cheap" ones I found had some cons to it. For instance, they wouldn't allow me to have my shoes standing up or each cube could only fit one individual shoe.
I wanted mine to stand upright and for each pair to be in the same space. So I found this at Target. I bought two because that's all they had at the time, and in that particular color.

It took me approximately 3 hours to build them. It's not an easy process especially since their setup manual isn't straightforward. Confused me a bit.

My boots and loafers are still in the same spots.
When time permits, I'm getting the rest of my shoes from my Chicago and setting up more cubes.

I know. I need some colors in my life *_*

I plan on having three shoes in one cube, so it'll be a total of  25-27 shoes.
P.S. Those are two units stacked. One unit has 9 cubes.

Have a nice week!

ROMELIA, ROMELIA!

I have a love-hate relationship with this lady called Romelia...and I just met her!

Hey guys!
I ordered a shoe from ALDO on Sunday and I just received it. I couldn't wait to try it on, and the moment I did, I flung it out of my feet in excitement annoyance :s

Here's the gist.
So I saw this really cute pair of pumps on ALDO while browsing through their store site and came across ROMELIA. I was filled with joy because this shoe kinda reminds me of the ZARA asymmetric court shoe that came out last January and sold FAST (I wanted one so bad)!
I got it in the color "bone" (classic tan) because I needed a pointed heel in nude...and oh, it's on sale! Went from $80 to $64.98.

So on trying this shoe, I realized that it looked expanded. Now I don't know if it's because of the packaging, or perhaps it was returned to them by a previous dissatisfied customer.
I have a narrow feet and the shoe feels wide. Thank goodness I went half a size down (I wear a 9)!

In a positive light, I loveeee this shoe due to it's structure. It's a patent, asymmetrical  pointed toe 4 inch pump that's super comfortable if the size is right. It has a classic look to it too.

I'll give a final review on the shoe after an outing... I have no intention of returning it.

Looking forward to the weekend. I'm about to take some Tylenol, get some sleep then head to work.

Later.

The Star-Spangled Banner

Last night was Obama's Inauguration, and Beyonce got to sing the national anthem. I didn't get to watch it because I was stuck studying 12 sumptuous chapters.

Anyway, sources are claiming that Beyonce lip-synced and they have proof here
But seriously, what if she lip-synced? Is that really what matters??

Whether she lip-synced or not, I loved every bit of it! I PERSONALLY don't think anyone (LIVING) could have done a better job-- fitting into the occasion.

Here's the video:

I watched the video about 3 times and after looking closely, I spotted her lip at 2:19
Her pre-recorded track stopped right before her voice did in "brave" No? Yes?

Well, hopefully I get to watch the rerun (if there'll be any), or I'll probably just look for it online.

By the way, this is her singing the Nigerian national anthem back in 2006 :-) Oh that voice!

Nigerian Aqua

Hey guys, just something I found...
Just today I was doing some online shopping in the comfort of my room and I stumbled on something interesting on the clothing site AquabyAqua. Interesting in the sense that I never knew there was anything like "Nigerian Gold" and "Nigerian Blue"
Not sure if it's just their store thing, or an actual color. Interesting nonetheless.

I couldn't get a clear picture of the items, so go here and here to view them

How To: Chin Chin

Hi everyone!
A little story...
Two weeks ago, a member of my church celebrated his birthday; food and drinks were served. As always, chin chin wasn't an exclusion.
I was able to get a bottle of chin chin which lasted me for about 2 week. Just yesterday, after *pinching*/mincing it for so long, my bottle finally emptied itself.
I was determined to get more, but how?
********************************
Today, I made a trip to Walmart to get necessary ingredients and got to frying!

Know that this is not a tutorial per say, cos I won't include precise measurements for each items (because China doesn't measure when cooking, I just do rough estimates).

Pour a quantity of granulated sugar in a bowl (200g)
100g of powdered milk into the same bowl. I used NIDO
Add evaporated milk to the bowl content. If you use condensed milk, be sure to mix with little water

In a clean bowl, pour desired quantity of plain flour. I used about 100kg
Add nutmeg and a pinch of salt. Mix well.

Add butter/margarine. Mix well til it feels like crumbs
Add the sugar-milk mixture
Mix thoroughly by hand
You're going to add water little by little until the flour hardens.
I added too much water. If this happens, don't worry, just add more flour to it!
Knead dough in bowl then transfer to a flat surface (board or kitchen counter).
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to desired thickness.
 Cut into desired shape.
I cut mine into the shape we all know it to be.
In a pot of hot vegetable/corn oil, deep fry.

When done, store chin chin in an airtight container or munch away :)
I made bigger pieces too...
I know I wasn't precise on my measurements (I never am).
Sincerely speaking, you don't need to be accurate with these! If you have a sweet tooth, add more milk/sugar/nutmeg, if you don't, go less on them. It's that simple.

(((Chin chin is a fried snack common in Nigeria and all or parts of West Africa)))

If you have questions, please ask away.
